Maternity Photography in Toronto | A Session Filled with Love & Laughter
Nicole and I go way back—like, fourth-grade-besties kind of way back. So, when she asked me to capture her maternity photography in Toronto, I was over the moon.
What made this session even more special? Nicole and Steve’s maternity session actually came before their wedding! I had the honor of documenting this milestone in their lives first, capturing the excitement of their growing family. Then, later, I had the privilege of photographing their wedding day. Seeing their journey from parents-to-be to newlyweds was such a unique experience, and it’s one of the reasons I love what I do.
Photography isn’t just about capturing one moment—it’s about telling a full story. From maternity sessions to wedding days, I love being part of these incredible life milestones. If you’re newly engaged or planning your wedding, I’d love to help capture your next chapter too. My wedding work is showcased on Katie Crane Photography, where I bring the same storytelling approach to love stories, from intimate elopements to grand celebrations.
For their maternity session, we wanted a location that reflected the beauty and excitement of this moment. Alexander Muir Gardens was the perfect choice, with its blooming flowers, lush greenery, and vibrant colors creating a dreamy backdrop for timeless maternity portraits.

A Maternity Session Filled with Love & Laughter
Maternity shoots are all about celebrating the beauty of pregnancy, and Nicole’s session was no exception. From the beginning, she radiated excitement, making the session feel effortless and filled with joy.
Of course, we made sure her outfits were on point. The dresses, carefully selected from Old Navy and Nothing But Fits, added an extra charm to the photos with their soft waffle textures and elegant flow. Choosing outfits that are both comfortable and stylish is key to feeling confident in front of the camera, and Nicole looked absolutely stunning.
A Mini-Date Before Baby Arrives
What made this session even more special was the way it felt like a mini-date for Nicole and her partner—one last intimate moment before their world shifts into full-on parent mode. The laughter, the quiet embraces, and the excitement in their eyes made every photo feel natural and heartfelt.
Nicole has always been my go-to model and muse, but seeing her step into this new chapter of motherhood with such grace and joy was truly inspiring. It was a privilege to capture these moments, knowing they would serve as beautiful keepsakes of this exciting transition in her life.
When Should You Book a Maternity Session?
Many moms-to-be ask, “When is the best time to book a maternity session?” The ideal time is between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. During this window, your baby bump is beautifully round, and you’re still feeling comfortable enough to enjoy the session. However, every pregnancy is unique, and I always recommend choosing a time that feels best for you.
